The Mer-maids Invade the East Coast

 

Our west coast customers are probably fully aware that when it comes to boat care products, it is hard to beat the Mer-maids.  Carol and her staff have been maintaining boats/yachts for many years and have come up with an excellent line of products including a Canvas and Vinyl Cleaner that has been approved by Glenn Raven Mills (manufacturers of Sunbrella).

 

During the Ft. Lauderdale Boat show, I spent quite a bit of time asking yacht captains what they would like to find on an online marine store.  Two gentlemen from California told me about the Mer-maids so I chased them down for samples.  Being in the Canvas Trade for many years, we have tested many cleaners in the past and the Mer-maid brand far exceeded our expectations!  I have personally tested every product that we stock with the exception of the Swabby Bilge Cleaner and have not been disappointed.  See all that Mer-maids has to offer here.

IMAR Still Leading the Pack

 

Scalise Marine was lucky enough to be the first dealer/distributor for this excellent line of Yacht Detailing Products; many of you came to Scalise Marine because of this.  IMAR orders account for roughly 80% of our sales!  As you already know, this is the only brand still recommended by Strataglass for use on their clear vinyl sheets, both Strataglass and Crystal Clear 20/20 and for good reason, IT WORKS!

 

But did you know that there are other products available from IMAR that work just as well?  If you purchased the IMAR Strataglass Protective Cleaner and Polish from us you most likely also received a sample size of the Yacht Soap Concentrate.  There is also an excellent Yacht Polish and Yacht Clean & Shine that work together much like the Strataglass products, polish and use the cleaner in between to keep the polish looking it's best.  We have found the Clean & Shine product to be our favorite of the five and use it for everything hard (plastic, clear plastic, automotive detailing, windshields, sunglasses, etc.).

 

We have been trying to get the IMAR line picked up in as many areas as possible to have them on the shelves where our customers already shop.  This has been a rough road to travel, as most stores do not have time for sales calls or return calls.  I have found that the best way to get their attention is from customers asking for IMAR by name.  Once there is a demand, there is a more urgent need to find a distributor (re: Scalise Marine!).  Please ask for IMAR the next time you are in shopping for marine supplies.

History of Scalise Marine

 

Although Scalise Marine is only celebrating a year in business, we are not all that new at all.  Scalise Marine was born out of a need from our other company, a Ft. Lauderdale canvas shop with over 20 years in the biz.  All too often our customers would have an enclosure fabricated, chair made, sofa recovered, bimini installed, etc. only to inquire "Where do I get the products you recommend to care for this?"  Another big question would be, I have a stain on my 'xxx', what do you recommend to clean the spot?  A need was present and now we have an outlet to fill the need.  Look on any fabric page, such as Sunbrella, Stamoid or even Strataglass for available manufacturer's cleaning recommendations.

 

What started out as a side job to help a friend install a small network in his office turned into much more when he asked me to build a website and store.  We started out with an idea and little to no web design knowledge and grew from there.   Our first big break was when David Scalise introduced me to Edison Irvine, President of Strataglass, Ltd., who told us about a new product he was endorsing that blew away anything on the market for the care of his products.  We did our research, ordered samples and got the ball rolling from there.  Adding to the IMAR line, we had all the existing resources from the fabricating side of the business to add fabrics, cleaning items, hardware, tools and so much more.  There is not enough time in the day to add to the website what we have available for sale.  Catalog upon catalog, stacked up neatly in the corner or on shelves offer just about anything our customers could need.  For this reason, I insert on most of the web pages, "If you don't see what you are looking for, just ask."  This is because we have hundreds of thousands of items available and with a little research; I think we can find what you need.  Try us!!

I work very hard to build your trust and would like new visitors to Scalise Marine dot com to know they have arrived somewhere where customer service is our number one priority.  I have the office number forwarded to my cell phone 24 hrs a day and will answer it from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. EST.  This way I give full coverage hours to my east coast customers and coverage to my west coast customers up to 6:00 p.m. their time.  If I do not answer when you call, I could be a bit busy but leave a message, I will return the call!  We also boast fast turn-around/shipping where most orders are shipped the same day or the next from time received.

 

Articles on the Web

 

I have written a few articles for publishing and distribution on the web and in a few marine newspapers/magazines such as The Triton and South Florida Sport Fishing Magazine (July/August 2005 edition).  These articles are mostly to introduce new customers to the IMAR Strataglass line and instruct them on how to use them.  Links to two of them can be found on our home page, www.scalisemarine.com, towards the bottom of the page.
